Hello,
I just wanted to mention that you probably won't get a 6061 T6 box fabricated as a formed part. 6061 T6 is a harder aluminum that does not form well, and will usually crack and break when formed to a 90º angle. For formed boxes etc you will need to use 5052 aluminum or a similar type which will allow the part to be formed. If the box needs to be made from 6061 T6 it can still be done but will most likely need to be a tab and keyed fabrication with welded corners and joints. If it does not need to be water tight tack welding in a number of locations will probably be sufficient.
Regards,
Wes

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just an EE with enough ME knowledge to be dangerous, so I do appreciate it.

5052 would be fine. The box corners needs to be water tight, splash proof. I'd prefer a continuous weld/braze for that reason.
